Sheriff Robert Markley started his law enforcement career in 1990 as a jailer at the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. In 1991 he graduated from the Northeast Georgia Police Academy in 97th class. Sheriff Markley served as a patrol officer then investigator until he was elected Sheriff in 2000. Since taking office in Jan 1st 2001 Sheriff Markley has proudly served the Citizen of Morgan County providing a professional law enforcement agency. The three main goals of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office has been  and will continue to offer Professional, Proactive and Responsive service to the citizens of Morgan County. “We can accomplish our goals only when we treat all people with respect and allow them to maintain their dignity in bad situations”.  “Consonantly fair and equal treatment is a must to maintain our credibility with our constituents “ Sheriff Robert Markley.
